ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (January 12) – Publisher Dawna Stone has announced Christina Gandolfo as editor-in-chief of Her Sports, a new women's sports and lifestyle magazine set to launch in March 2004.
Gandolfo joins the publication as founding editor after having spent five years editing the highly successful sports title Triathlete magazine, where she spent two years in the role of managing editor before being named editor-in-chief in 2000.
Her Sports is a glossy newsstand title that's being aimed at intelligent women
who take an active role in their health and fitness, and who use active sports to enrich and define their lives.
"The Her Sports reader is above believing that you can look or feel good with a quick-fix," Gandolfo says. "She participates in sport as a way of life, and approaches being active as means of not only being fit but being successful and fulfilled."
Gandolfo, who has more than 13 years publishing experience, started her career as a general assignment newspaper reporter in San Diego, Calif., before being hired at the fitness trade monthly Fitness Management, where she last served as senior editor. She has contributed to several national magazines including Men's Fitness and Outside.
"I'm excited to have someone of Christina's caliber editing the magazine," says publisher Dawna Stone. "She not only brings with her the skills and experience to grow and build a successful title but has key relationships with the top writers and photographers
in the industry. Her contributions will be integral to Her Sports ' success."
An avid triathlete and distance runner, Gandolfo will also publish a training book aimed at women triathletes for Human Kinetics Publishers in late 2004. She holds a bachelor's degree in Journalism from San Diego State University. |
